Campground Review

11/14/2012.. Bordortown Casino RV Resort, Ok for a stopover. We only stopped for the night so we can’t really judge it.

11/15/2012… Whiskey Flats RV Hawthorne NV. — Ok for a couple nights. There is a casino in town, bathrooms ok. Not much in the area. Good place to chill for a day while passing through.

11/16–11/17 2012..  Beatty RV in Beatty NV. Was OK but would just head into Death Valley next time

11/18–11/20/12..            Dry camping by Furnace Creek in Death Valley — We liked it a lot. The Furnace Creek campground looked good as well. Probably had more privacy dry camping in the lot than we would have had in the actual campground. But certainly will give the campground a shot in the future.

11/21—11/28/12..          Lakeside Casino RV Park in Pahrump NV. What a great place and great setting. Would for sure stay here again. The town itself wasn’t that great but the park is outside of town with a nice lake setting. Sites are a little close together but not bad. And they have GRASS!!

11/28–12/5/12.. Silver View RV in Bullhead City NV. —   Sites are too close together for me,, I would just stay for the passport America discount days and move on next time.

12/5—12/11/12.. Lake Havasu State Park Lake Havasu AZ. — Great Great place..   site  #10 is perfect by the lake. I could stay here a couple weeks easy.

12/11—12/18/12.. Quail Run RV in Quartzsite AZ.  — Probably the best place in Quartzsite. Very clean. Priced a bit high I think.

12/18…12/23/12..Scaddan Wash outside Quartzsite AZ–   14 day dry camping allowed but a lot of freeway noise from I-10

12/24…12/25/12..           Quail Run in Quartzsite AZ.–  Spent 2 days to dump tanks and do laundry and had xmas potluck . Best campground in Quartzite other than dry camping.

12/26…1/1/13.. Plomosa Road outside Quartzsite AZ.–  Spent 6 days dry camping. 5 miles outside of Quartzsite. Good spot

1/1…1/15/13.. Indian Waters in Indio Ca.– Lots to do. Big spaces. Probably the best we have been at so far to date. Would return. Great place for the price to tour the Indio/Palm Springs area.

1/15…1/21/13.. Laposa South by Quartzsite AZ. — Dry camped with Tiffin group. Has dump station and water but more crowded than Plomosa Road.

1/21…2/8/13.. West wind RV and Golf Resort Yuma Az. – Huge place, lots of park models, lots of amenities, a little much like a trailer park for us. Made me feel like I was living in a mobile home park, but a nice one. No views except trailers. Not really our kind of place.

2/8..2/23/13.. Quartzsite Plomosa Road Quartzite Az. — RV Dreams Boondocking rally, we really like dry camping here.

2/23..2/24/13.. Saddle Mountain RV Park Tonopah Arizona — Wide spaces, palm trees,   pickle ball, pool & , good laundry, nice people, easy in and out, would stay again.

2/25..3/4/13.. Twin Peak in Organ Pipe National Park AZ. – Dry camping, nice sites with cactus and native vegetation. Dry camp with dump station. 4 miles from Mexico. GREAT GREAT GREAT PLACE

3/4…3/11/13..Casa Grande RV Resort, Casa Grande Arizona — ok sized sites, very nice people,2 pools, hot tub, library, pool, exercise rooms, we would return.

3/11…3/15/13.. Lazy Days RV Park , Tucson Arizona — Nice, clean ,ok sized spaces, grapefruit trees, over priced at reg. rate, not the best part of town, fine park.

3/15…3/28/13.. Saguaro Escapee Coop Benson Arizona– Escapees only, nice views, very friendly, propane on site, have to pay electric, work shop, would come back.. Lots to do in the area if you want to drive. We could do a moth there pretty easy.

3/29…4/1/13… Dream Catchers in Deming New Mexico — Escapees park, easy on & off freeway, freeway noise, gravel lot, ok for overnight otherwise I’d pass next time. Noisiest park we have been in by far!

4/1…4/8/13… City of Rocks State Park, Deming New Mexico—Dry camping with a few hookup sites. Cool rock formations, great walking trails, we dry camped in #18, good seclusion would come back. This has to be the most peaceful place we have been along with Organ Pipe. But the privacy of our camp spot would get the nod here.

4/8…4/24/13… Elephant Butte RV Resort, Elephant Butte NM — The best bathrooms & showers we have ran across. Dog wash $7 for 12min. Good monthly rate. Overpriced by the day or weekly rate but pay for a month and stay for 2 weeks and its great. Nicest bathrooms we have seen by far. Friendly staff

4/24..4/29/13… Oliver Lee state park Alamogordo NM — Nice small state park, nice view, at base of mountains, clean restrooms with showers, would come back. Clean bathrooms, nice sized spaces, good hiking, 12 miles outside Alamogordo, certainly would come back.

4/29…5/1/13… Inn of the MT of the Gods — Dry camping at a casino,         3 levels of parking with a golf course and lake view. No water or dump, Perfect place for a night or two. I’d unhook a toad before going up.

5/1…5/6/13… Bottomless Lake State Park Roswell NM — Gravel sites with shade buildings ,all have water and 30amp some with 50amp and sewer, about 15 miles outside Roswell. Nice lake and walking trails.

5/6…5/9/13… Palo Duro State Park Amarillo Texas — Mesquite campground is the best, no Verizon service, lots of trails, can’t be compared to the Grand Canyon.

5/9…5/12/13…  Oasis RV park in Amarillo Texas — Close to freeway, good Wi-Fi, ok restrooms, nothing there to warrant the price, ok for a couple of nights

5/12…5/17/13…  Foss Lake State Park outside Foss Lake OK — 3 campgrounds, 1 tent, 1rv by the lake with 50amp & water, one in the trees away from the lake. The campground by the lake is very nice. Big lake, shade trees, grass, no Verizon, boat ramp and docks, would come here again.

5/17…5/20/13…  Twin Fountains RV Park Oklahoma City OK           — Good location to tour the city, right by 2 freeways, lots of trees so satellite TV is a challenge, very busy place.

5/20…5/23/13… Devils Den state park West Fork Arkansas — Great park, no Verizon, full hookups, nice walking trails, good bathrooms & showers, E loop for big rigs.

5/23…5/28/13…  Ivy’s Cove, Russellville Arkansas — Small, gravel sites, noise from road, spaces to close together, very high for what it is, ok for overnight stop .Easy freeway access,

5/31…6/3/13…  Village Creek State Park, Wynne Arkansas — Lots of tree, 2 lakes,  not great trails,  golf course, tennis, hard to get satellite, pretty good restrooms, premium sites have w/e/s,spaced out well

6/3…6/5/13…  Graceland RV Memphis TN — No frills side by side parking, 24 hour security, easy to Graceland, tourist place for sure           .

6/5…6/8/13… Trace State Park Belden MS — Lots of spots on a nice lake, not far from Tupelo, nice restrooms and showers, lots of trees, Full hookups with 50 amp, close to the parkway.

6/8…6/19/13…  Tiffin Campground Red Bay Alabama — Gravel side by side with E/W/S, it’s like camping in a large RV sales lot, Arrive on Saturdays for the best chance at a full hookup spot. They start packing in on Sunday.  Take the plant tour and get 1 night free. Have any warranty work done and price is cut in half.

6/19…6/24/13… Joe Wheeler State Park — Heavily treed, mainly 30amp some 50, septic and water, we stayed in loop C on the lake. Tennis, golf course, marina, more stuff than we thought there would be.

6/24…6/30/13…  Yogi Bear RV Park Nashville TN — Easy setup, good power, low water pressure, level sites, way high for what it is but good location           . Way over priced for what it is but the nicest in the area. Location Location Location

6/30…7/8/13… Creekside RV Park Pigeon Forge TN            — Small sites, good water and power, bathrooms ok, friendly staff, off the main strip which is nice. High for what it is but again location location location

7/8…7/15/13… Cave City RV Park, Cave City Kentucky — Easy to find, level gravel pull though sites, full hookups, good Wi-Fi, good bathrooms, small laundry room, nice grass dog area ,some grass between sites no real shade. We would come back if in the area. There is a train track that runs by the park. Sparkling clean bathrooms!! Simply top notch.

7/15….7/22/13… Whispering Hills, Georgetown Kentucky — Wi-Fi sucks, water & power good, sites are sort of close together, restrooms are good, pool, no shade, Interior roads are very bad, there is a small pond, staff are friendly, poor drainage if it rains, would stay at horse park if in the area again.

7/22…7/29/13… Beech Fork State Park, Barboursville WV —           The road in would stop us from coming back, but nice park once you’re in, nice lake, good sites w/some shade,      good level sites, good power and water, good bathrooms, small laundry, small store, small rigs would be best because of road in.                                                                            ,

7/29…8/6/13… Stonewall Jackson State Park — Resort setting, nice sized sites, nice lake, most sites are 30amp, golf course and lodge,   garbage can at each site, We moved to another site and even had 50amp, very nice place, one of the top state parks so far, do the boat ride.

8/6…8/13/13… Friendship Village, Bedford Pennsylvania —             OK for touring the area, 2 ponds, 2 swimming pools, nice walking trail, high for what it is, 2 camp stores, tons of kids, gravel roads and sites, poor Wi-Fi, good water and power

8/27/13…9/5/13… Pinehill RV park Kutztown, PA. — Easy access from highway 78 but some noise also, big enough sites, gravel and pretty level, not a resort at all. Good Wi-Fi water & power, ok bathrooms, putt putt golf, oddly laundry is in bathrooms, big event hall, small expensive store. Good dog walking but no pen, good shade.

9/5….9/15/13     Pinch Pond Manheim, PA. — Lots of not so great perminate residents, only stay in upper areas, no Wi-Fi, propane available but high, bad smelly water!

9/15…9/19/13… Loray KOA          — Very nice park, we stayed in a premium spot with patio, good water & electric but Wi-Fi weak, ok bathrooms, a little overpriced, lot of sites are pretty private, very quiet, close to Loray and Shanendowa national park, we would stay here again, one of our favorites.

9/19..9/22/13…  Misty Mountain RV Park Greenwood VA– Ok place, upper section seemed a bit tight with a lot of tree’s, good power & Wi-Fi, we stayed in vender area.  Easy in & out, small fishing pond, game room, small store, bathrooms are his & hers and only 3 so not real good if busy, easy to get to.
