Just a quick reminder, we have started a YouTube channel. It’s certainly in its infancy stage for sure and will be going through some growing pains but go check it out and we would appreciate it if you would subscribe while there. Here is a link. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWqRmO1rO4cu3rFANF1iG6Q
In our last update we made mention that it was getting pretty warm down south but it wasn’t really bothering us much because we would go out early and play golf or Pickleball, get in a bike ride and putz around a little before it got hot. Then we would hunker down mid-day in the RV until after dinner when it cooled down and go back out and enjoy the outside until whatever time.
That formula worked when it was in the mid 90’s and it worked when it first started hitting the 110 range because even at 110 we were still able to keep the RV cool with little effort, cool enough that Diane needed to curl up under a blanket so we had no worries. Well no worries when we were waking up to cool mornings and going to bed with the Ac units turned off and the windows open, then mother nature started playing tricks on us.
Yup, she decided to let the heat linger longer into the night, we are talking like 90 degrees at 10PM when we normally go to bed and she made sure it was in the neighborhood of 75 degree’s when I normally got up at 5am which made it about 80 degrees when we would start playing Pickleball or Golf at about 7 and be at around 90 degree’s before we finished. That just ain’t right!!
In the latter scenario it meant we started keeping the windows closed at night and the AC set to a comfortable temperature in the bedroom and it would actually kick on a couple times throughout the night, again that just ain’t right!!!
With that said we have been very happy with how cool we can keep the coach even in stretches of hot days in the 108 to 110 degree’s but we have to be honest, we are not used to the groan from AC unit’s and we both feel that we hear them more in the 5th wheel than we did in our Class A. But then we have NEVER stayed in an area where it’s been this hot this long and had to use the AC this much so that may have some to do with it, in fact it probably has a LOT to do with it. Hmmm, New Horizon is now offering Mini Split units in their newer units, could it be time to trade up already LOL!!! Anyone looking for a slightly used New Horizon 5th wheel with all the bugs about worked out LOL!!!
And because I’m not much of a sitter, physically sitting, I admit being hunkered down mid-day is starting to wear a bit on me. Diane like to read so she has a bit of an escape, me not so much.
Not much else has changed with our routine, golf or Pickleball every morning followed by a bike ride and then we pretty much hunker down mid-day. It has however gotten harder to force ourselves out for that evening bike ride with the temperatures staying higher even after the sun goes down.
And we still have not gone anywhere except the grocery store, have not been to a Home Depot or Lowes or any other store as far as that goes and we still have not gone to a sit down meal at a restaurant and have no plans to do so anytime soon. We are just in the “ride it out” mode and watching all the protesters and party people gathering in huge crowds doesn’t really make us want to venture out any too soon to be honest.
Speaking of venturing out as we mentioned in our last update we are paid through June 7th here at our current spot but we did in fact move up our first reservation in Colorado from July 13th to July 4th so now we just need to fill in the gap and to be honest we (I) have not given that a bunch of thought. To be honest I have been watching the forecast and if it shows temps in the 105 range here or lower until the 14th we might just extend 1 more week LOL!!! Diane is going to shoot me before long OR MAYBE this will get her involved in making plans and not be so passive LOL!!!
I know one thing, staying hunkered down these last two months when we planned to be moving has sure saved money when compared to what we had budgeted, almost $1000 each month in fact!!! Let’s see, stay put and save money or hit the road and spend more money but do what we set out to do in this life style,,,, That’s simple, we would rather be moving LOL!!
Ok, that’s it for now.
Yeah, when the night time temps don’t drop much below 77, it’s too hot. As soon as Al’s tooth is fixed, we’ll be rolling.
We hope Al has a painless experience and you can head to cooler temps soon!!!
I can’t complain about 59-64 here in Gig Harbor!😉
Oh no you can’t!!! That sound darn good right now and that’s an area we have not visited as of yet. It was going to be our plan next year to head that way.
Sounds like it is definitely time to move to a cooler climate!
Truer words may have never been spoken.
