Well hell, we almost hate to move away from our spot here on Walker Lake. Considering we spent weeks on end sitting in the middle of the desert outside of Quartzsite with just the view of distant mountains and cactus’s this winter and loved it (But it was friends that made it what it was) it’s hard to imagine that we couldn’t sit here with views of snowcapped mountains and a great view of a lake outside of a town that has far more to offer than Quartzsite does. In fact that’s something to ponder for some time in the future.
In fact if it wasn’t that we had a 270 mile travel day getting here and that we don’t travel with a bunch of water on days like that we would stay longer this time. I guess we could have gone into town to take on water somewhere and went back but we do have a schedule to stick to at least a little bit so we figured it would be best to move on.
Our last day at Walker Lake was Sunday (4/10/16) and we took a drive to two other camping areas just up the road and planned to report on them but to be honest after taking a look there really isn’t anything to say other than stay at Sportsman’s Beach if you are in the area. The other two spots are not worth the trouble in our opinion. The other two are called Tamarack and 20 Mile Beach. Maybe if you are in a Class C or a pickup camper they would be ok, maybe.
After our drive we spent the remainder of the day walking along the lake, bird watching, Diane did some more of her weaving, I played photographer (I just love clouds working their way over and around mountains) and otherwise just chilled and enjoyed the views.
Once nighttime came we were treated to a nice light show. I must have sat over an hour and took over 100 pictures trying to time the next lightning with my phone LOL!! Didn’t get any good ones but did get lucky a couple times.
We went to bed about 10pm listening to the rain hit the roof. Another pretty good day.
