Time to rise & shine came early on Wednesday 5/27 yup, 5am seems a lot earlier now than it did almost 3 years ago when I retired. And it’s funny how 5am does not seem as early when you “just get up” at that time compared to when you “HAVE TO” get up LOL!! But surprisingly my internal alarm clock works just as good as ever. Knowing that we needed to be up at 5 my internal alarm had me awake at 4:45.
We had breakfast, made our way to the dump station, hooked up the Jeep and were on the freeway at 6:30am and had an un-eventful 125 mile travel day.
Our appointment was at 9am and we rolled into the RV Corral right at 9. We don’t normally cut things that close but because we were so used to driving to places like Eugene from Grants Pass while we lived there that we just used the same drive time and didn’t take into account that we were 20 minutes farther way when starting from the Valley of the Rogue state park. Oh well, we were still on time I guess.
We scheduled our appointment with RV Corral to do some warranty work well over a month ago and because I knew what was broken I was able to order the parts directly from Tiffin and they shipped them directly to us at no cost because they are being covered under warranty. This saved us the time involved by having a repair shop diagnose the problems (heck I know when something is broken), getting approval from Tiffin for the parts and then waiting for the parts to be shipped. I guess after playing the RV owners game for a while you learn how to make the rules work in your favor LOL!!
Once we were checked in and I confirmed the repairs that needed to be done and handed over the parts they indicated that they still needed to get authorization to do the work before they could get started. I was wishing they would have done that already, oh well. They told us it would at least take all day so we should just plan to spend the night in their lot. That’s ok, we just look at that as a free night of camping LOL!!
Well, we were homeless for the day and had no plans where to go next once we left RV Corral so we figured we would head over to a county park we happened across the last time we stayed in the area to see if we could get a spot for a few days. The office was closed so we grabbed some literature with contact information and headed over to our friends Lee & Coleen.
Lee & Coleen used to live in Grants Pass like we did but recently moved to Springfield just outside of Eugene and we had not seen their new house yet so it was a perfect opportunity to do that AND see them again. You might remember from an earlier update that they came down to camp with us for one night at the Valley of the Rogue.
We had a nice visit and Coleen had made up some Jambalaya and Creole sauce so we all had some for lunch,,, mmmm mmmm!!!!
And while we were at Lee & Coleen’s Diane called the county park and reserved us 4 nights. Now we at least knew where we would go when finished at the RV Corral.
I also called to check on the RV and was told it took them until 1PM to get authorization from Tiffin to do the work,,, Geeezzz. So that certainly meant that the work would not be completed that day and they wanted us back at the shop between 4:30 and 5 so they could lock us in the lot and wanted to give us instructions on how to get out if we wanted or needed to.
So after a nice visit with our friends we headed across town. Dan, our tech, told us what he had already completed and what he had left to do. I was actually surprised at what he accomplished and it was clear that IF Tiffin would have been more prompt the work could have been completed in one day. Oh well, if that would have happened we would have missed out on our 1 night of free camping LOL!!!
We had no need to go anyplace and were both tired from our early start to the day and I was in slow mode from another dose of Benadryl and a full belly from our lunch with Lee & Colleen so we just showered and hunkered down to watched a little TV the rest of the evening.
Dan, our tech, told us he would resume work on the coach at 8am the following morning.
