We have been having a great time boon-docking out here in the desert!! As we mentioned at the end of our last update, after spending 9 days camping with the Tiffin group we found a spot in town to spend a night with full hookups so we could dump our grey and black tanks, take on fresh water and do some cleaning and laundry and make a crockpot of chili in preparation for heading back out to a new location in the desert where we hooked up with a group called the Class-less Group.
We have been communicating with the group on a RV forum for roughly 2 years and have met a few people in the group along the way. Starting with Roger & Lynn while in Florida.
Then Tom & Dianne and Jeff & Tina while in Pahrump Nevada. (This is a picture from Pahrump)
And Red & Pam here in Quartzsite while we were camped with the Tiffin group before we all gathered here for the Class-Less get together. See, once again I say it really is a small world.
At the Peak of the get together I think we had 25 rigs and 44 people all together. But a couple had come and gone before that point. We were the newbies at this year’s get together along with Ron & Linda and Red & Pam. Each year they have a ceremony welcoming the newbies for that year and give them a diploma symbolizing acceptance into the group. AND LOOK!!!! They even accepted US, we are officially CLASS-LESS!!! But some have been telling us that for years LOL.
Something was going on every day whether it was a planned event like a great Italian Dinner put together by Steve & Carol,
Or a (one man’s junk is another man’s treasure) event,
Or an ice-cream and Kahlua around the fire put together by Roger & Lynn
Or the group photo shoot put together by Carol, This is not the picture Carol took but I didn’t have my hat on in that picture so I opted to post this one LOL!!
Or the great breakfast put on by Ron & Linda on the real last day of the event. And of course a number of people brought a variety of foods to each event making them all a feast. All of this out in the middle of the desert, ya just have to love it!!!
Or just something that popped up out of know where like a few of the bottles of booze that made their war to the fire some evenings.
And of course we all gathered around the fire every night. Even though the circle of friends got smaller and smaller almost every evening we still had a great time. Right down to where it was just couple of us left.
There was also a Mini RV-Dreams reunion on the 29th put together by Steve & Diane who arranged the use of a shelter in LAPSA south and supplied the BBQ & hotdogs. And everyone else bought a little something to round out the meal.
There were 16 of us in the picture, some we meet in 2012 at a RV-Dreams Rally in Oregon, some we met while camping here in Quartzsite at a RV-Dreams Valentines Boon-docking Rally in Feb of 2013, a couple others we bumped into during our travels and a few we meet for the first time at the Mini-Rally.
Everyone had a great time and once again we made more friends that I’m sure we will bump into again down the road. And you just never know where, and that’s part of the fun and adventure.
I put together a short video of the Class-Less gathering and if you are interested here is a link. I was having trouble with the editing program for some reason so I’m not overly happy with the results but decided to post it up anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsOFhwN6li8
By the 28th everyone from the Class-Less gathering had gone except for Jeff & Tina and us. And about the same time a weather front came through bringing some rain along with it, and a fair amount of rain for here in the desert I might add. So our evenings out have been sparse. But I think we both were ready for some down time anyway. Jeff lost his father 2 weeks ago while here in Q and had to fly back to Denver and then came back so we know he and Tina have had a tough couple weeks but maybe spending time with friends helped in some way.
We did get together and had dinner with Jeff & Tina at the Grub Steak. If you are even in the area and like fish & chips you should give it a try. Don’t let the looks from the outside fool you. It is one of the favorites for many people in town.
At this point we have been boon-docking here in the desert at Quartzsite since the 13th with one night having hookups as mentioned at the beginning of the update. We have attended 3 separate gathering events as well as attended the Big RV Tent event that is held each year here in Quartzsite so it has been a very active time for us filled with catching up with old friends, meeting new friends, eating and drinking way too much (wait, is that possible), and enjoying the pleasure that somehow camping in the middle of the desert with no hook-ups can bring. It’s been a blast!!
