We have enjoyed our short stay in Quartzsite.
So what the heck is the draw to this tiny desert town called Quartzsite!!?? You would think that after spending 5 weeks off and on in the desert surround Q during the winter of 2012/13 we would have had our fill of the place, but oh no, it has drawn us back LOL!!
At this time of year I guess it’s the peace and quiet and the feel of being all alone with no worries, no pressures, no expectations, and no real rules. It’s just you, nature and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets and the occasional bird, rabbit and as of today we can say DEER. Yep, we scared up a deer on today’s walk. And a pretty big healthy looking fellow I might add.
There really isn’t much to report. We mainly came to Q as a short layover before moving on to Desert Hot Springs to meet up with our friends Bob and Karen.
We spent our time taking walks in the desert, reading, kicking back in the lawn chairs soaking up the sun, enjoying some very nice sunrises & sunsets and basically relaxing.
We did take a drive into town to see if the seasonal vendors had started setting up shop yet, and they have but just. We were happy to see that the grocery outlet was open for business already so we took advantage of the opportunity to stock up on coffee. They always have coffee about $2 cheaper than we can buy it in a normal store as well as many other great deals. It’s the little things in life that make us happy LOL!!
But it’s time to move on. We will be lifting jacks in the morning and heading out for a 150 mile travel day to Desert Hot Springs. We are looking forward to seeing Bob and Karen and spending Thanksgiving with them. It should be a great time.
We will be returning to Quartzsite mid-January, probably the 14th, to attend the Big Tent RV event and boon-dock with some friends we meet in the desert in 2012. We will probably camp with them for 10 days and then make a move and hook up with another group about the 24th and boon-dock with them until the end of January before moving on. Hey, we sort of have a plan for the next couple months it seems.
One thing is for sure, Quartzsite will be a different animal when we return in January.
