Well much talked about winter storm rolled in to the Reno/Tahoe area as predicted Frida night but nothing as fierce as it was made up to be.
But Friday night after our Dinner at Pancho and Willies Mexican joint I played it safe and unhooked everything except electrical and put the bikes on the Jeep so I wouldn’t need to Saturday morning in case it was nasty outside.
We heard it rain off and on throughout the night but when we woke it was wet outside but not raining but some of the surrounding hills did have snow.
We had very loose plans on just where we would head as we left Sparks. Originally we thought we would just drive an easy 130 miles and dry camp along the lake in Hawthorne Nevada but with the night time temps predicted to be in the 30’s we changed our minds.
So we didn’t know if we would still stay in Hawthorne or press on towards Pahrump Nevada where we had reservations starting Monday and see if we could get in early. The attractive thing about pushing on to Pahrump was getting into warmer weather.
The drive was much better than I anticipated after hearing the weather reports the last couple days so that was a pleasant surprise. As we were filling up with fuel in Hawthorne we decided to see if we could get a spot to stay and not push on.
We thought about just spending one night but figured we better stay 2 days so we could spend much of Sunday watching football like normal LOL!! Diane’s team (New England) is playing Denver so that should be a great game and KC is playing the Jets so I’m hoping that will be another mark in the WIN column!!
Well that’s it for us for now. We will be here until Monday and then head to Pahrump Nevada. Oh, I did put together a short video of the Washoe campground area in case you are thinking of camping there and want a sneak peak. Here is a link.
