Move day from Charleston to Hilton Head South Carolina

Since our last update we have left Charleston and moved to Hilton Head South Carolina!!

We enjoyed what we saw of Charleston but dang that’s a big city!! I think I read that the metro area has over 575,000 people. And they all wanted to be on the same damn roads we wanted to be on!! LOL!!

We saw pretty much everything we set out to see in the area so no regret’s but we would probably pass on going back just because of the traffic. However the downtown area was well worth the effort,,,, once.

Wednesday 10/23/13 we lifted jacks and started our long travel day of 95 miles!! That’s the sort of day we like LOL!! Our destination was Hilton Head Motor Coach Resort.

We have heard over and over how nice the resort is so what the heck,,, you only live once so we had to check it out.

They have a special going on for first time visitors that gets you 30% off of a 1 week stay otherwise we probably wouldn’t be here. But we have a very nice and big spot in the middle of the park that is very nicely landscaped and has a great stamped and stained parking pad. And plenty of privacy between sites.

There were some spots that we could have nosed up to a lake but they would have added $100 to our 1 week rate and even with the 30% off deal that just puts it over the top in our book. I’m cheap!!

A shot across the lake at Hilton Head. Hey,, if everyone had remote controlled speed boats it could be fun camping around that lake LOL!!

Once settled in we took a bike ride around the park. Dang,, there are allot of motorhomes here that cost far more than our last home that sat on 5 acres!! But they are fun to look at.

Everything is so nicely landscaped that I wouldn’t call it a overly pet friendly park. We won’t let Jack take a wiz on anything that is part of landscaped areas in a park. And the dog park is outside the gates. But it’s fine because just outside the park is a great bike trail that I guess goes all over the island. We walked it about a mile but it started to get dark so we turned around and headed home.

Plus the first game of the World Series was getting ready to start and Diane is a baseball fan so we couldn’t miss that!!! People say golf is boring to watch but I personally feel baseball is much worse. And god forbid you ever fall down anyplace in the field because you just know that every square inch has been spit on at least 100 times if not more!!

We are looking forward to touring the island. We have researched and found a few places to check out and eat at. And we are looking forward to getting on that bike trail as well.

I used to live on the island in the early 80’s. Lots of Plantations then so I am sure that the island has grown alot since then. We had to go to Savannah to do any shopping as there were no supermarkets on the island. It will be interesting to go back and see all the changes. Maybe next year. Have fun!

Oh it has grown then for sure. There is plenty of shopping and tons of places to eat. And probably 5 golf courses at least. I think we read were there where only 2 or 3 stoplights on the island in 1975. Lots more now LOL!! I would have loved to see the island in the 80’s. Your the lucky one.
