As we mentioned on our last update Wednesday 10/2/13 we lifted jacks and headed to Willow Tree RV Park in Longs South Carolina just a short distance from Myrtle Beach.
This is a great campground!! Nice sized and well spaced out sites, a nice huge lake with a great walking trail, nice pool and hot tub. It’s certainly one of the nicer privately owned parks we have been to.
Getting here on Wednesday was one of our longer travel days at a little over 230 miles. Some of it freeway but a lot of it out in some beautiful countryside. One thing we noticed was a bunch of bikes in trailers and in the back of pickups headed to Bike Week in Myrtle Beach. I tried to think when the last time was we trailered our bike to a rally,,,,,,,, Oh that’s right,,,, we NEVER HAVE!!! Oh well to each his or her own. I guess they at least have bikes,, mine is in storage back in Oregon. Times like this I miss it.
Once we were all set up at camp I fixed a flat tire on my bike and we spent the rest of the day walking and bike riding around the lake and yacking with a few other campers.
Thursday we drove into North Myrtle Beach and walked on the beach for a while. That was the first time I have had my feet in the Atlantic!! Diane had experienced it in the past. The water certainly is a lot warmer than on the West coast.
Then we jumped in the jeep and cruised through North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach and South Myrtle Beach just checking everything out.
Diane read about a couple putt putt golf courses and while driving around she saw one, Treasure Island, that she read good things about so what the heck,,, we stopped and played a round. And I’ll be darned if she didn’t get 2 holes in one’s and ended up beating me by 2 strokes!!! I demand a rematch sometime down the road LOL!!
By that time we had killed most of the day and headed home.
Friday we headed back into Myrtle Beach and found the Boardwalk and did the tourist thing walking around from one end to the other. Diane also did a little research on good places to eat and decided The Sea Captain sounded good so we had a late lunch there. And it was in fact very good!!
After lunch we hit the beach and walked about a mile and a half just chilling and walking in the surf. I could get used to this pretty easy. Not so much walking the boardwalk but the beach is nice and the water is great!!
The town is starting to fill up with bikes along with crowds getting ready for the weekend so we will probably hang around the campground most of the weekend but we have plans for Monday and Tuesday of spending more time on the beach as well as a playing a little golf.
