Christmas at Quartzsite

12/27/12

As mentioned in our last update after spending 6 days boon docking we packed up and headed back to Quail Run in Quartzsite for 2 nights. It gave us a chance to catch up on laundry and take on another tank of fresh water. Our motor home holds 100 gallons of fresh water so we can get by for about 7 days with just a little water conservation and not going overboard worrying about it.

As we were getting ready to head out I saw some new neighbors coming in. Coming from the Grants Pass area this type of RV wasn’t to surprising to us LOL!!

Christmas eve as I looked out the window I saw a RZR go down the road all decked out with Christmas lights,, followed by another and another…. So I grabbed the camera and headed outside to watch about 30 rigs all decked out come through the park in a parade format. I guess the RV park down the road put it together.

There was about 25 RZR's and quads all decked out for the parade through the park.

It seems we timed it perfectly because the Quail Run had a Christmas pot luck planned!! There was roughly 50 people signed up so we certainly had a good mix of food,,, turkey,, ham,, stuffing,, sweet potato’s with marshmallow (MMMMMM),, and many more dishes as well as a table full of desserts!!! Plus a room full of great people to top it off. Ya just have to love it.

After filling our bellies and having a good chat with new found friends we waddled back home and settled in for the evening.

Wed. morning 12/26/12 we pulled camp again and headed a few miles out of town to Plamosa Road where we are dry camping now.

It’s a great spot. Being a little further out of town not many people are out here yet. But I hear during the big RV event in Jan. this area fills up. So we will enjoy the piece and quiet for now. Just us,,, a great mountain view,, a couple of rabbits and birds and plenty of sun.

I’m sure we will do a couple day runs into town and maybe into Parker or Bouse to break up the days.

We plan to camp here 6 nights and then on Jan. 1st head to Indio Ca. But that’s just a plan,,, and plans are made to be changed.

Think about this……

Someday your life will pass before your eyes. Make it worth watching!

Howdy to you guys, so glad you still have sunshine. We had a great trip up north, did the Tut exhibit and more in Seaqttle. Cold and hard rain but got around to do all we wanted to see. Then over to Port Townsend to see a buddy, then over to Camano Island for Christmas. Great Christmas, Kathy was a hit with the family. Had a few photos from Cobbs about trees down across my drive. They were cut by the time we got back Thursday.

Cleaning lady day today so have errands in town, still have snow all over here. Must have been a Hell of a storm, I have over ten trees down or snapped off, one being on top of my wood shed, crashing in the roof. Oh well, something for an old retired guy to do. Wish I was roaming around the desert like you….poor me, LOL.

Have a fun New year, your New Year started a few weeks ago and is going great it looks like.
